The third-monthly (about 10 days in a time-step) hydropower scheduling, typically challenging nonlinear optimization, is one of the essential tasks power system with operational storage reservoirs. This work formulates problem into quadratic programming (QP), which solved successively, linearization updated on constraint firm yield from all cascaded Notably, generating discharge linearly concaved two planes, and output defined as function reservoir storage, release, discharge. application model methods to four reservoirs Jinsha River reveals several things: successive (SQP) presented this can derive results consistent those by dynamic (DP), difference water level within 0.01m; it has fast convergence computational time increasing number increases, most significant improvement objective at second iteration about 20%; capable coordinating very well sequentially maximize total production.
